TERMS & CONDITIONS
The Hiroshima Ultra-Trail by UTMB® is a trail running race that takes place over an extended period in mountainous terrain. For all race categories —100K, 50K, and 25K—participants must fully understand the nature of this event before entering.
Participants must possess the physical fitness, technical skills, equipment, and judgment necessary to safely complete the race category for which they have registered, as well as the ability to ensure their own safety.
The course includes forest trails, narrow mountain paths, steep slopes, rocky terrain, uneven ground, stairs, and unpaved roads. Additionally, cell phone reception may be unreliable in some sections, which could delay rescue efforts or medical assistance.
Participants must fully understand the unique nature of the event and possess the ability to make their own judgments and respond appropriately to various physical and mental risks that may arise during the race, such as sudden changes in weather, hypothermia, heatstroke, fatigue, dehydration, injury, and running at night.
Furthermore, please understand that trail running is a sport based on the principle of personal responsibility, and participate while properly managing your own health and physical condition. If you determine that continuing the race is dangerous due to illness, injury, or other reasons, please withdraw from the race of your own accord and promptly notify event staff.
Please note that the HIROSHIMA 100K is highly likely to include night running; for safety reasons, we strongly recommend that you practice night running using a headlamp or similar lighting device sufficiently in advance.
Etiquette When Passing Through Residential Areas
Parts of this race’s course pass through residential areas and villages. Please fully understand that this event is held with the understanding and cooperation of local residents, and act with consideration for the community.
In particular, when passing through residential areas at night or in the early morning, please refrain from loud conversations or unnecessary shouting, and run quietly. Additionally, please help reduce noise by muting or removing your bear bells before entering residential areas.
Behaviors that cause inconvenience to local residents or other users—such as littering, trespassing on private property, or violating traffic rules—are strictly prohibited.
Failure to follow the instructions of event staff or engaging in behavior that causes significant inconvenience to local residents may result in penalties or disqualification.
To ensure the continued success of the Hiroshima Ultra-Trail by UTMB®, we ask that each participant act responsibly, demonstrating respect and gratitude toward the local community.
If you are unable to participate in the event, you may receive a refund of the entry fee only in accordance with the “Athlete Withdrawal Deadlines” outlined below.

For races with elite runners (as recognized by UTMB), invitational runners and top local runners will be assigned to the Elite Runners Pen, that will be standing in front under the starting arch.
They will start before other pens.
- Other Pen assignment will be based on UTMB index (deadline 6 weeks from event date) sorted by the highest UTMB index to the lowest.
- Runners in Lower Start Pen may not move to Upper Start Pen unless an application is made to the race organizer with certified proof of previous race credentials and results (example: best marathon time). The decision of the race organizer is final.
- Cut off time to apply for upgrade to Upper Start Pen is at 6:00pm on Friday 10 April 2027. No extension will be entertained.
Athletes can request to transfer their entry to a lesser or greater race distance up until such time as that race distance is sold out, subject to the following terms:
- The deadline to request a transfer from one race distance to another is 11:59pm 31 Jan 2027.
