Course description
The HIROSHIMA 100K begins in the heart of Hiroshima, but soon leaves it behind. Runners follow the Ota River out through the city's edges before hitting the trail. Passing a shrine carved into the rock of a sacred waterfall marks the start of an epic journey across the ring of mountains that surrounds the Hiroshima delta.
From here, the course rarely settles — ridgelines give way to steep, hands-on climbs, technical descents, and long stretches of forest road, cresting at an elevation of almost 900m on Mt. Shiraki before continuing to dip and climb to the back end of the course’s major test at Mt. Abu.
Warm welcomes and local delicacies at well-stocked aid stations provide opportunities not only to refuel and recover, but also to re-compose yourself. This is not a race won in any single section. It's earned through hours of disciplined, patient pacing, culminating in a flat riverside return to central Hiroshima and a finish along the Peace Line in the shadow of Hiroshima’s A-bomb Dome monument.
