From City Streets to Mountain Peaks
The moment you leave the city center, another Hiroshima rises: ridgelines folding into the horizon, deep forest, mountain shrines, and rivers braiding their way to the sea. Between the peaks, your route passes through country towns, and from the high ground the view opens over Hiroshima Bay — islands scattered near and far across the Seto Inland Sea. Few ultras start and finish in the heart of a great city — here you run from the streets straight into the mountains, and back. This is a city that chose to rebuild as a place of peace, and the run carries that spirit, returning along the Peace Line, the axis that joins the Cenotaph to the A-bomb Dome.

HIROSHIMA 100K
With an elevation gain of 5,587m over 94.6km, the HIROSHIMA 100K is the ultimate challenge at Hiroshima Ultra-Trail by UTMB. From the heart of the city, runners climb into the green mountains that have ringed the delta for centuries — a full circuit over peaks that rise at several points to over 800m, along trails that run through deep forest, pass mountain shrines, and offer views over the delta's six rivers and out to the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. After a day and night in the peaks, the route returns to the city for the final stride along the Peace Line, finishing in Hiroshima Gate Park on the axis that connects the Peace Memorial Park Cenotaph to the A-bomb Dome.
HIROSHIMA 50K
The HIROSHIMA 50K is a worthy challenge in itself and an excellent stepping stone for those looking to take on a triple-digit-distance challenge in the future. The 48.7km route packs in 2,755m of cumulative elevation gain. The route leaves Hiroshima Gate Park for the ridgelines that ring the delta, following the same opening stretch of the 100K route. It is a course that treats you to forested mountain trails and impressive views of the Seto Inland Sea, as well as some challenging climbs and technical descents, before returning along the river to the city. You finish along the Peace Line beneath the A-bomb Dome, with well-deserved full ultra-runner bragging rights.
HIROSHIMA 25K
The 25K course lets you experience both the joy and the challenges of trail running over a distance that, with preparation, is relatively easy to tackle. Enjoy the ever-changing scenery, from roads and mountains to city streets and riverbanks. Encounter waterfalls, shrines, and incredible Seto Inland Sea views along the way and experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching the finish line at Hiroshima Gate Park.
