Course description
The HIROSHIMA 25K course lets you experience both the joy and the challenges of trail running over a distance that, with preparation, is relatively easy to tackle. Enjoy the ever-changing scenery, from roads and mountains to city streets and riverbanks. Encounter waterfalls, shrines, and incredible Seto Inland Sea views along the way and experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching the finish line at Hiroshima Gate Park.
The key to the HIROSHIMA 25K race is, firstly, to avoid getting too caught up in the pace of those around you and sticking to your own pace. Secondly, don’t push too hard on the climbs, and whether you run or walk, keep moving steadily until you reach the finish.
The aim should be to pace yourself over the first half (Hiroshima Gate Park to AS1 Gamagatao) without pushing too hard, then steadily tackle the climbs on the way to Mt. Ushita, and finally finish the race at your own pace.
It isn’t necessary to force yourself to run all the steep climbs. Instead, alternating between running and walking, and gradually making up ground on downhills and easier sections, will ultimately allow you to run comfortably to the finish.
It’s also important to use aid stations and road sections to rehydrate, catch your breath, and mentally prepare for the next sections.
